Sam Cooke Live At The Harlem Square Club.rar From mediafire.com 36.09 MB Download sam cooke discography files found Uploaded on TraDownload and all major free file sharing websites like 4shared.com, uploaded.to, mediafire.com and many others. Keep Movin’ On should probably not be the only Sam Cooke compilation that a neophyte fan should buy, mostly because it covers only his late career and leaves out a lot of essential material, but it is an absolutely essential companion (along with the Harlem Square Club live set) to his finest compilation, Portrait of a Legend 1951-1964,.
Released: June 1985 Recorded: January 12, 1963 Genre: Rhythm & Blues, Soul Label: RCA Baby When The Band Is Playin’ And That Solid Beat O, Make You Wanna Move, Make You Wanna Groove Make You Wanna Pat Your Feet Don’t Fight It, Don’t Fight, Feel It Feel It (Don’t Fight It) – Sam Cooke I have heard of Sam Cooke before but i am not too familiar with him or any of his songs sadly so when i listened to this album it was the first time i had listened to Sam properly knowing that this was the artist i was listening to. Strangely this album was recorded in 1963 but Sam Cooke’s label RCA viewed the album as “ too gritty and raw” which could possibly damage Sam’s pop image so they kept the recordings hidden away for 22 years before releasing it in 1985. This seems ridiculous to me but i guess his label was just trying to protect him, in my case and instance after listening to this album i have become a bit of a Sam Cooke fan so perhaps if the label didn’t hold back the live recordings and released the album earlier there would have been more Sam Cooke fans about but i guess that is open for debate. One thing i was able to tell about this live performance was that Sam was great at engaging with the audience and that he had a good stage presence and also that he was very comfortable and confident on stage, there was a moment i remember from the song “” where Sam would tell the crowd what to sing right before he sang it so the crowd knew what to say or sing along to, i like it when the artists interacts with the crowd especially during live album performances. There were many songs i enjoyed from this album as you can see listed below, “” might have been my favorite song, it had a really cool swing to it and a short but sweet saxophone solo which i enjoyed, i can imagine the crowd having a good time dancing away while listening to this one.
This album has made me want to check out more Sam Cooke albums, when i find a new artist that i like i usually listen to a greatest hits compilation album and that way i can get a taste of their biggest hits and see if i like them, i think that is what i will do here too. Unfortunately there aren’t any more Sam Cooke albums from the 1001 albums book so there won’t be any more of his albums that i listen to as part of this journey but i am glad i listened to this album in particular and i enjoyed it, it was well worth my time and is well worth a listen. Sadly Sam died in 1964 at the young age of 33 but like many artists that die young their memory lives on through their music and new fans from different generations are born, much like myself after listening to this album i consider myself a fan. Playing with his road band and saxophonist King Curtis, Cooke has all-star accompaniment at every turn. But the true star here is Cooke.
It's his gritty delivery that reinvigorates the once-mild offerings of 'Cupid' and 'For Sentimental Reasons' and takes his soul classics like 'Chain Gang,' 'Twistin' the Night Away,' 'Bring It on Home to Me,' and 'Having a Party' and turns them into passionate, personal expressions of spiritual power. Cooke brings his gospel best to the material, and his influence on Rod Stewart, Joe Cocker, and an entire generation of rock 'n' roll singers can be traced to his interpretations' phrasings and energy. Even the audience gets involved. With this much excitement, it'd be impossible to not get in the spirit. One Night Stand! Live At the Harlem Square Club, 1963 full album download One Night Stand!
